In this article:

The aim of CSIRO’s rootstock breeding program is to develop new hybrids with advantageous characteristics for Australian viticulture by crossing established rootstock cultivars and selected individuals from species collections.

Results are presented from screening procedures performed on a collection of 306 rootstock hybrids to assess propagation and graft compatability, nutrition of grafted and own-rooted vines, and tolerance to root-knot nematodes.
