A survey was made of the salt content of the principle main drainage outfalls over a period of approximately one year. The salt content was found to be lowest when the flow of drainage water is greatest and several drainage outflows in the district could be suitable for irrigating pasture or fodder. It is noted that there is a degree of correlation between the soil types of the area served by a drain and the concentration of salt in its outflow.
