A range of self-rooted vines, many of which have been used as nematode- and phylloxera- resistant rootstocks, were surveyed for chloride concentration.
Petiole analysis showed the following trend for chloride accumulation among Vitis species: V. rupestris < V. berlandieri, V. riparia < V. candicans, V. champini, V. longii < V. cineria, V. cordifolia < V. vinifera.
