The relationship between trellis design and vine fruitfulness is being investigated for Sultana vines on Ramsey rootstock. Comparative assessments of own-rooted Sultana and Sultana grafted to Ramsey trellised to the Shaw swingarm system were made.

Assessments include fruitfulness studies in 1995 and harvest measurements in 1996.

The greatest yield was obtained for Sultana vines grafted to Ramsey, indicating the vigorous Ramsey rootstock responds well to fill the large foliage area provided by the Shaw swingarm trellis.
