In this article:

The developing berry almost certainly undergoes major physiological and biochemical changes during its groxvth.

The present paper reports some of these changes. Differences between the immature and maturing fruit with respect to their respiration and CO2 fixation are described, and the effect of environmental influences on gas exchange is reported.
