Australian developments have shown efficiencies of production of high quality raisins can be improved through an integrated approach to management which combines high productivity with low inputs, in particular labour, by the adoption of mechanisation.
Factors contributing to productivity gains include improved cultural practices for management of soil, water and vine nutrition, use of selected high yield clones, use of nematode resistant vigorous rootstocks and improved trellis systems. The impacts of these various improvements are discussed.
