The new seedless variety, Sunmuscat, is currently being grown by many dried fruit producers.
Prior to the release of Sunmuscat to industry, its productivity and fruit quality were assessed by CSIRO in a large trial on ADFA land at Irymple.
The trial included a comparison of own roots and grafted vines on Ramsey rootstock. In that study, which was planted in virgin soil, the overall performance of own roots and Ramsey was similar for fully established vines.
However it was found that field grafting of Sunmuscat on Ramsey was not always successful. Hence Ramsey has not been recommended for Sunmuscat.
