This investigation was made to show whether differences exist in the composition of the cuticular waxes of different grape varieties or species.
The species of the genus Vitis differ widely in many characteristics but taxonomical studies within this genus are particularly difficult because of the easy hybridization of most species.
The cuticular waxes of several available grape varieties were fractionated and the composition of the main fractions is recorded.
