This bulletin was written primarily for vine growers in the Murray Valley, and includes the results of investigations conducted at the Merbein Research Station over a long period.
The work of the station is presented summarised form in three parts, with this bulletin forming the first part and covering viticulture. The subsequent parts cover irrigation, drainage, and fruit processing.
Information derived from research that has been conducted into vine physiology, factors affecting yield of dried fruit, pruning practices, cincturing, frost and rain damage, impact of fungus diseases, effects of summer rain on ripening grapes, vine training, and soil fertilisation are all provided.
