In this article:

The growth and chloride accumulation of six grapevine cultivars (Sultana, Shiraz, Clare Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Palomino and Doradillo) during four weeks were compared under glasshouse conditions in solution cultures 0, 50, 100 or 150 meq chloride per liter.

As chloride concentration in the solutions was increased, shoot length increments and dry-matter accumulations were lower and chloride concentrations in the midshoot petioles greater. Degree of chloride tolerance between the six cultivars is described.
