The aim of this review is to understand the nature of loads imposed on trellis structures and how these loads influence the design of these structures.
Particular emphasis is given to innovative trellis systems.
As the tension in trellis wires plays a vital role in the design of the trellis structures, the measurement of the wire tension under load has been critically reviewed.
The wires, end stay assemblies, intermediate posts and trellis types have also been reviewed carefully.
This review will form the basis for future research work into trellis structures specially for dried vine fruit production leading to practical and cost effective guidelines on design, material selection and installation techniques for trellis.
